Removing History

When I ask IE to remove history (in tools/options) I hit OK but the list of pages visited remains! I've rebooted but still the history list remains!
How can I remove the list that appears when clicking the history icon in IE6?

Turn off Auto Complete and OK out. Then go back in and clear your history.

If you don't, IE has no choice but to retain your history.
