removing hidden Picasa software

I no longer want photo indexing application Picasa running on my
WinXPpro SR-2 machine, but I don't know how to get rid of it. It doesn't
show up in the add/remove programs. I haven't found any "Picasa"
directory under "programs." Even when I uncheck the Picasa box in
MSconfig, Picasa still seems to automatically start and proceed to index
my photos.

I do have Copernic Installed, and I use it for finding photos. How do I
stop Picasa from running other than constantly clicking on the Picasa
icon in lower right corner and say "exit."

This seems to be a rather specialist piece of software. Unless anyone here
has specific information on how to uninstall it, you are unlikely to get a
helpful answer. You would probably have more luck on the manufacturer's web
site.

Programs can be autorun at startup via a number of routes.

The older method was to place a shortcut in the Users profile under

Documents and Settings\(account name)\Programs\Startup

but the more usual methon in XP is to place entries in the registry at:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

and/or

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run

The first location is account specific, the second makes the software run
for all users.

I would click start/programs/ then the directory and see if the uninstall pgm
is their, if not then try to use the CD or media to uninstall, if this does
not work then I would go to the Picasa's website and search there.

Picasa is in my "Add remove programs"
as an interim, if you de select all the folders in "Library"
at least it will stop indexing images.

With mine there is an uninstall.exe at C:\Program Files\Picasa2
(XP Pro SP2)
Good luck.

On my computer, when I click Start, All Programs, Picasa2, there is an
uninstall choice.

My problem is that Picasa does not appear in my "Add remove programs"..
I just found a Picasa setup.exe in a "downloads" file, and I've
deleted that as well. We'll see if that puts it down.

Thanks

My problem has been, "when I click Start, All Programs, Picasa2, there
is NO uninstall choice." Somehow the program must of gotten installed
in a directory other than the Programs directory, and I have yet to find
it.

It should be in C:\program files
if not download the free "Agent ransack"
http://www.mythicsoft.com/agentransack/
and search for Picasa2
