They are stored in the registry at
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\11.0\Common\Open Find\Microsoft
Office Word\Settings\Save As\File Name MRU in the value sub key.

You can do a lot of damage in the registry if you don't know what you are
doing; however run regedit from Windows > start > run. Locate the key I have
described, Double click on the value sub key and delete one or more entries
from the list.
Note Office 11 is Office 2003.
