removing extra harddrives

Hi, I bought some upgrades for my computer a while ago, and that
included a new sata hd. I already had a pata hd so i put it in as a
slave and proceeded to install windows on the new sata hd. Well I
cannot now remove the old pata slave drive or windows will not boot.
My windows folder is on the new sata drive, but files like ’ntldr’ are
not on this drive even though it is the one i boot from. I have tried
copying ’ntldr, boot.ini, and ntdetect.com’ to the new sata harddrive
and removing my pata slave drive and trying to boot. This did not
work. It would still not boot to the sata drive.

I dont know much about this, but i was thinking that my sata drive
doesnt have an MBR? any help would be great thanks
alex

here is the exact message im getting
windows could not start because of a computer disk hardware
configuration problem.
could not read from the selected boot disk. Check boot path and disk
hardware.
Please check the windows documentation about hardware disk
configuration and your hardware reference manuals for additional
information.

You need to make the new drive your primary master, format it and reload
your os. THEN add your old drive as a slave. You should NEVER install a
primary operating system on a slave drive.
