removing empty rows

Please can you tell me how to delete empty rows at the bottom of a worksheet
If for instance I have 1000 records on a worksheet and then cut and paste most of the records to another worksheet, leaving say 50 records, the original sheet will now have 950 empty rows. Is it possible to remove the empty rows so that moving the scroll bar to the bottom results in the last populated row being displayed, i.e row 50, rather than the empty space left by the records that have been moved, i.e. row 1000
