Removing DUPLICATED file--Reg Cleaner.

Using a Registry Cleaner have heaps of DUPLICATE FILES.
I have used RESTORE POINT twice not sure if I DELETE the
Duplicated files or is the computer now using them??
For instance I have a file ending in dat and the same one
ending in def. Which is the one I take out if any??
Out of my depth here LOL. Any help appreciated.

Unless you *know* what yr doing do not use a reg cleaner or delete anything
you dont know exactly what the file is/for
