removing downloaded update programs

Can auto update programs that are downloaded to my pc
from microsofts support site be removed from my list of
programs after there installed? I would think windows xp
is updated and programs could then be removed. Thank You
in advance.

Removing the auto updates the Add/Remove screen also removes the update from
the system.
