Removing domain policy

Matt

I have a windows 2000 PC that was previously on a domain
that had active directory and security policies. The
computer has been moved into a workgroup and is now used
as a stand-alone, but it still has the original security
policy. How do I remove the old policy? Thanks. - Matt

Most of the policy should have been remove if you disjoined it from the
domain properly. Otherwise you can use secedit as described in the KB below
to restore security settings to default defined levels. If you also have
user configuration Group Policy settings, then go to \winnt\system32\group
policy\user and rename the registry.pol file in that folder. Then reboot the
computer and user gpedit.msc to open local Group Policy and define any user
configuration setting which you can immediately undefine and it should
generate a new undefined user Group Policy. --- Steve
