To uninstall Windows Messenger, try this:
Close down Messenger (right click the messenger icon in the notification
area/system tray and click close). Then click the start button, then
click Run and type in (copy-paste if you like):
RunDll32 advpack.dll,LaunchINFSection %windir%\INF\msmsgs.inf,BLC.Remove
You might also want to go into the program folders and actually rename the
messenger folder.
That way no program can call it and reactivate it.
Microsoft doesn't actually 'uninstall' it. It just turns it off and removes
the icon. The files are still there in case any program wants to run it.
