Removing dead entry in add/remove

I have a wia g3camera driver dead entry in add/remove, actually a double
entry, that I just can't get rid of. I have researched this area, and tried
all the tools such as jv16 etc. I am now following instructions to manual
removal from xpsp1. using regedit. The problem is that I can't find the
entry no matter how carefully I look in the uninstall string. I thought i
had found the double entry in a sub key of Instashield Uninstall( the only
one with sub keys represented by a + sign). It had several entries and two
reffering to the wia driver. I removed both sub keys, even rebooted, but the
entries remain in add/remove. So that wasn' it and I restored. How do I
remove those entries if there not there? Is there an alternative?Should I
remove the entire Instashield Uninstall Key even though it contains info
for other programs? I don't see this as necessary as I removed the relevant
sub key. There is absolutely no other info related to this driver in the
uninstall key.

Try this:
First try going into add/remove, click on the left over entry and choose
remove/uninstall. XP should see it's not there anymore and remove it. If it
does not then goto: start, type in regedit, hit enter.

Navigate to this key:

hkey_local_machine\software\microsoft\windows\current version\uninstall

Expand the key to see it's sub folders, then delete the ones you don't need.
(you can export them before delete to be safe if you want).

The old version of tweakui that lets you delete add/remove entries is not
compatable with XP and should not be used on XP. The new tweakui for XP
(version 2 or 2.10) can be used with XP, but it does not have the option to
remove add/remove entries anymore. So you can't use tweakui to do this.

I have done all that is suggested. The problem is that the sub key entry is
just not there. This one baffles me.

I don't know I've never seen the key not be there. Maybe re-install the
program/driver and try uninstall again or contact the cams tech support.

That may be an easy answer, but like almost all your answers,
it's wrong. The XP version oF TweakUI does not have this
facility. Why do you persist in answering questions and giving
people erroneous information when you clearly know so little
about Windows?

The only remote possibility is those two entries in the InstaShield
Uninstall key sub keys. They don't refer to a program, but rather status
text. This is the only key with a + sign for sub keys. Does anyone know about
it? I'm going to remove it for a week or so and see what happens. Thanks
folks
