Removing corrupted file

Any suggestions as to removing / repairing a damaged, corrupted and
unreadable file?

Run the system file checker tool, click your start, run,
and type in; " sfc /scannow " with that space after the
sfc and it will ask for your XP CD to copy files from.

start, run, sfc /scannow .. have your CD available.
