removing corrupted app

ZoneAlarm which will not uninstall due to validation failure of -
C:\\WINDOWS\system32\zonelabs\vsmon.exe

This has occurred since I ran an updated version prompted by the apps
own auto update,since install it's been suffering that "forgetting it
settings problem" so I was going to try Kerio but attempting to
installing that with ZA still on the machine results in a message
requesting removal before install.
ZA won't uninstall from add/remove programs or with it's own uninstaller.
Any suggestions welcome ;-)

Try this:
Go offline!!!!!! Pull the plug on your modem if you have to.

Ctrl + Shift + Esc | Processes tab | Find: vsmon.exe | Highlight it |
End Process button | Answer Yes | Find: zonealarm.exe |
Highlight it | End Process button | Answer Yes |

Now, try to uninstall Zonealarm.

If that still doesn't work.
