Removing certain items from "system section" of START menu in classic view

Q

Quido

Does anyone know how to remove certain items from the "system section" of
the start menu (when in classic view)? I think there must be some way to
change the registry as to hide, for example, the Settings item... Give me a
piece of advice. Thanks

Well, you have a "system section" and a "user section". The latter can be
changed simply by changing the content of %userprofile%/Menu Start, the
former cannot be changed that easy. "System section" is the part of the menu
where you can find items like Find,Settings,Documents,Help,Favorites etc.

What system section?

That's not true. Try using the terminology the rest of us use. What do you want to do exactly. Answer without your notions of how it works but with what you want.

This is what I want to achieve: I want to have a classic start menu (=not
the new XP menu) but I'm not satisfied with the items it offers. For
example, I would like to have a Control Panel item there, enabling to see
all controls at once by clicking on it. At the same time, I don't need to
have Settings item, which continues with Control Panel, Printers etc... I
want to know if it's somehow possible to change the menu like this.

You may want to try the following and see if it does what
you want:

Right-click on START
select Properties
Click on Classic Start Menu
Select Customize

Good Luck
