I'm the only person using my computer, yet every time I
modify the start menu this message appears:

"Warning: Modifying this folder will affect all users
who log on to this computer. Do you want to continue?"

How can I get rid of this?

I don't think you can. I get the same thing and am also the only user
of this machine running XP Home. I just ignore the warnings.

Technically as far as Windows is concerned you are not the only person
using your system. Almost every XP system will have a minimum of 2
user accounts on it. One being the account you created for your
personal use, and the built in Administrative account. So as you can
see, when you make a change it might also affect the administrator
account as well. (Especially if your user account has admin rights)

It is just another one of those things you have to get used to dealing
with as part of the learning curve from the Win 9X line to the
NT/2000/XP line of operating systems.
