Removing a "Tree Root" Trust

"Stupid Me"

I created a new domain under existing forest

the dcpromo appeared to work normal, however unable to see new domain from
old domain

Network infrastructure flaky "as-is"

Tried to dcpromo the new domain out of the picture - DNS errors

Tried days of research to fix DNS errors - no luck

Shut new (testdomain) dc down

Existing Domain logs event id: 5719 - System

I am assuming its because there is a trust relationship between the two
domains, however, I do not have the option to remove them. The Remove Button
does not enable. The particular trust is a "Tree Root"

Any suggestions would utmost be greatly appreciated

If the child domain controller is no longer running and the domain is to be
decommissioned, use NTDSUtil to remove the leftover metadata.

This in not a child-domain, this is/was another domain, same level as the
existing domain
