address. Is there any way I can remove this as I am now
receiving so much spam and attempted viruses etc

Any help will be well loved

Craig

Hi Craig,

You are using CDO, delete it there. The same can also be done if SP1 has
been installed for OE.

Hi Craig

You will have to either use Message Rules for the incoming Spam or a 3rd party program such as Mailwasher to delete them before they are downloaded:

http://www.firetrust.com/home/

Also - go to Tools>Accounts, double click on the appropriate account and 'munge' your email address. That will help stop any further 'harvesting' of your email address.

Sorry, I forgot- to remove the message you sent - highlight the message and then go to Message>Cancel Message.

Sorry, you are probably out of luck, even if you immediately cancelled the
post, it was more than likely picked up by other newsgroup servers out of
the control of the msnews.microsoft.com newsgroup servers.

Other than buying an anti-spam package (I dont use them
cos they can screw up your e-mails) the only way is to
change your address. I got hit with spam email purporting
to be an upgrade from MS when I put my address on this
site. The virus checker took care of the virus. It was
easy to change my address, but the pain is in contacting
automatic sites which send me job alerts etc. It was a
good lesson never to give out e-mails.

That's it. Get a new address and then NEVER give it out to anyone
except those in your address book. Of course you'll have to *modify*
it in your newsgroup program so it won't be read there. I took those
steps, installed a firewall, and for over two years I can count the
amount of spams on one hand.

I am planning to do the same. Of course I can notify my regular friends,
but ..... how do you get the newslists you subscribe to (like this one) to
use your new email address? Do you need to unsubscribe and re-subscribe? or
is there another way?

Also, I suspect that Yahoo newsgroups are among the worst. I am not sure
what I can do about them. I am afraid if I subscribe under a new email
address, I will soon be back where I started.

I am in favor of lining up spammers and shooting them, preferably before
dawn! (joking, sort of).

It depends on the list. Some have a wany to change the address. But,
Most I've found you need to unsubscribe then re-suscribe with the new
addres

If you can. Put some garbage in your new e-mail address. So that a live
person can tell what to remove. But, A program can't

Sound like a plan to me.

BTW. Check out the list at the addresses in my signature. I'm sure
you'll find them quite intersting. Particuliarly "This is True" Absurb
lawsuits in U.S Courts, and "The True Stella Awards" True, Verified
Storis such as STella Liebeck, the lady that sued McDonalds over spilled
coffee.
