Removing a column

I have a slide that has a column that I don't want, as you can see in this
picture: http://img219.imageshack.us/img219/9782/pptga5.jpg OK on the right
side, I want to get rid of that column. I have tried all the right-click
options that I see when I right-click on the column--how can I get rid of
unwanted columns?

Are you referring to the column next to Industrial Revolution? I don't think
that's a column. Instead, it should be a dark blue/purple background. If you
want to have the boxes fill up the entire slide, there are several ways to do
so. Post back if you need more help.

As mentioned, there are several ways.
The simplest way is to increase the width of all the boxes so that they fill
up the slide entirely.
Another way is to create a new presentation. On the new presentation, change
the width of the slide. To do so, click File > Page Setup. Then, copy the
boxes from the old presentation and paste it on the new ones.

No success yet.

Working within the file I already have, I go to Format Autoshape, and then
select the Size tab. After increasing the width of the selected box, I click
out but the result is that only one box/cell has been changed. This happens
even if I select all the boxes in a particular column. I would have to
manually change all 25 boxes for this to work.

As far as making a new presentation, when I go to File>Page Setup, it allows
me to adjust the size of the original page, but not the individual boxes
themselves. Decreasing the width (from 10 to 9 inches) decreases all the
columns I have proportionately, not just the white space to the right.

If it is a matter of background (?), have you tried to change its color
(Right clic somewhere outside the slide/background).

Both methods work, you will need to follow the steps accurately.
For the first method:
When you have selected multiple boxes by holding down shift key, click
Format > AutoShape instead of right click. This prevents the re-selecting of
a specific box that you have right clicked on.

For the second method:
You will need to first create a new presentation.
On the blank presentation, change the width of the slide.
Then, copy and paste the boxes onto the new presentation. (Do NOT select the
slide thumbnail and copy, select the BOXES)

Jean-Pierre, I was able to change only the background of that one column
(that I didn't want) to black, which was the color of whatever you might call
"unfilled space" in a ppt slideshow. This is a decent workaround that I will
use if I can't simply eliminate that pesky column to begin with. Doing this
makes the slide look a bit off-center (to teh left, in this case) b/c of
course ppt still sees that I have an extra column on the right. Thanks--I
can always fall back on this if I can't delete that column.

Shawn, working in a new file was going to be difficult b/c I need to retain
all the links back and forth within the original document. Trying to alter
the width of the columns was troublesome, because only a couple of those that
I selected actually got adjusted--the others stayed the same.

I used Jean-Pierre's solution and then saved my original with a new name--I
can use this as a "template."
