Remove XP Pro

Hi,

I have two copies of XP Pro on one HDD in the same partition. It happened
when I selected a new installation instead of repairing the old installation,
thus leaving me with two XP Pros.

When the computer boots up, it now offers me a choice of XP Pro...the old
one or the new one. Aren't I lucky!!

Well the fact is I don't need two copies and I am trying to remove the new
installation. The Control Panel's Add/Remove does not show the XP Pro in the
list of programs...and attempting to execute the executable OSUNINST.exe
returns a message that XP Pro cannot be uninstalled because the necessary
information the registry is missing.

What can I do to remove one of these systems may I ask?

Note: The Dell system came with the XP Pro already installed, so I can't
revert back to Win 98 like the Microsoft help files suggest.

Thank you for help.

I was hoping that question wouldn't pop up...it was turned
off...boo...hoo...stupid aren't I??

Beautiful...it works...although the first time flopped...on reboot the system
command couldn't load Windows complaining not being able to find file
"hal.dll" and froze at the DOS prompt.

Using F8, I managed to get the windows open and had another go. Worked
second time.

Thanks heaps.

BTW, what about the fact that the Uninstall option was not available in the
Add/Remove list. Why wasn't it there for me to use?

Hi

Glad it worked for you. There wasn't an option in Add/Remove Programs
because there weren't any uninstall files available, not like there is when
an upgrade from one version to another version is performed.
