MacAfee Removal

Win XP Pro.
Tried to remove MacAfee and install a different vius scanner.
The new virus scanner is reporting a conflict with MacAfee.

I Googled and found all kinds of links for MacAfee removal I do not
trust but I can't seem to find one from MacAfee.

Can someone provide the MacAfee link for their virus scanner or other
products removal/cleaner/uninstaller or whatever is best to remove all
traces of MacAfee.

BTW I used CCleaner and it did find reg entries and I did clean those
but the conflict is still reported.

Thank!

How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee products using the McAfee
Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe)

P.S. I strongly recommend not using a registry cleaner.

Excellent! McAfee is one of the poorest choices available. What are
you replacing it with?

See Bruce Hagen's reply.

I'll add the following to what Bruce said on this subject: CCleaner is
an excellent program as long as you do *not* use its registry cleaning
function.

Registry cleaning programs are *all* snake oil. Cleaning of the
registry isn't needed and is dangerous. Leave the registry alone and
don't use any registry cleaner. Despite what many people think, and
what vendors of registry cleaning software try to convince you of,
having unused registry entries doesn't really hurt you.

The risk of a serious problem caused by a registry cleaner erroneously
removing an entry you need is far greater than any potential benefit
it may have.

Read http://www.edbott.com/weblog/archives/000643.html
and http://aumha.net/viewtopic.php?t=28099
and also
http://blogs.technet.com/markrussin.../02/registry-junk-a-windows-fact-of-life.aspx

Let me point out that neither I nor anyone else who warns against the
use of registry cleaners has ever said that they always cause
problems. If they always caused problems, they would disappear from
the market almost immediately. Many people have used a registry
cleaner and never had a problem with it.

Rather, the problem with a registry cleaner is that it carries with it
the substantial *risk* of having a problem. And since there is no
benefit to using a registry cleaner, running that risk is a very bad
bargain.

Registry cleaner.... bad idea!

Remove McAfee via Control Panel> Add or Remove Programs, then download
the removal tool from here:
http://download.mcafee.com/products/licensed/cust_support_patches/MCPR.exe

Save it to your hard drive, close all open programs, and then run the
removal tool.
