Hi i want to remove window messenger, is that even possible? Like Bill (whose
question went unanswered), i went to the add/remove section and only MSN
messenger showed up. I want to keep msn messenger but not window messenger.
Is it possible to remove it? If so, please let me know. I cannot find any
information on how to remove it.

Zoee,
I see it in Windows Components Add/Remove, but that didn't seem to get the
job done.

I'm becoming a bit alarmed, because the "information message" I'm getting
about applying updates to proceed might be bogus, as when I click on
the "What's New" box, I get a browser message at MS saying the requested
page cannot be found.

Have you also received such messages?

If you go to http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=302089

don't know about uninstalling but do this to turn it off ...hope this helps

1. Click Start, click Run, type gpedit.msc, and then click OK.
2. In Group Policy, expand Local Computer Policy, expand Computer
Configuration, expand Administrative Templates, then Windows Components, and
then Windows Messenger.
3. Double-click Do not allow Windows Messenger to be run, and then click
Enabled.
4. Click OK.
5. On the File menu, click Exit to quit the Group Policy snap-in.

Yes it can be removed. First you need to change your folder optons so you
can view hidden files and folders. Then you go into the windows folder and
find a hidden folder named (inf) Then you will be looking for a file named
(sysoc). Its in that folder you will delete the word and only the word (hide)
within that sentence that starts with msmsgs. Close out and save your
changes. This should allow you to unistall windows messenger in the
add/remove programs.
