Remove USB symbol missing

The safely remove USB symbol is missing from my toolbar. System recognises
USB devices OK, but when it comes to unplug them, I have to pull out the plug
and hope for the best, which seems a bit dodgy. Cany anyone tell me how to
restore the icon?

Not all USB devices need to use the unplug utility. These include mice,
keyboards, printers, scanners, web cams etc. Only drives may utilize the
utility. It is controlled through device manager.

Look under disk drives for the particular drive in question. Then go to the
"policies" tab. You can optimize for either quick removal or for
performance.
