How is this any better than MSCONFIG?

Startup items seem to be scattered all over the system. Buddy finds them
all for you. Additionally, msconfig does not let you permanently delete an
item. It is elegant in its simplicity, in my opinion.

I like Startup Inspectors for Windows® FREE

http://www.windowsstartup.com/

Startup Inspector for Windows can thus provide a consultative
information on the programs that are running at your Windows startup
process. Whether a program is necessary to the system, or is the
program a spyware.

* Scans all programs that are in the Windows Startup Folder,
Registry and provide you with a background information of the program.
* Remove harmful programs like spyware, virus, diallers, make your
system healthier.
* Remove unnecessary programs like reminders, monitors, improve
your system performance.

Found this today.

The home page has a few freeware programs. The above link is a download
link for Remove Startup Programs Buddy. It's just what I needed to manage
the startup items on my WinXP system without all the fuss.

Program: Remove Startup Programs Buddy
Company: Scorpio Software
Author: Dan Smith
Ware: (Freeware)
http://www.scosoft.com/

v 2.2 is available now although you can't tell that from the author's
site. . .

http://www.downloadery.com/RemoveStartupProgramsBuddy22.exe

INFORMATION about v 2.2 is here:
http://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Launchers-Shutdown-Tools/Remove-Startup-Programs-Buddy.shtml

Looks like *temporary* Freeware. That's the *only* Freeware app on the
author's site ATM. OTOH I did find this about another of his apps:

http://www.scosoft.com/remove-about-blank-buddy-faq.htm

You advertise Remove about:blank Buddy as freeware, it isn't.

Answer: First versions of the program were free. Since then Remove
about:blank Buddy is significantly improved to become a really powerful
tool with a good support.

We informed site owners that program isn't freeware anymore; there are a
lot of sites which cannot be updated in good time as well as there are
sites which heard about Remove about:blank Buddy indirectly so we don't
have contacts with them.

I may list Remove Startup Programs Buddy on the ACF program info pages
once we know what and where the last Freeware version is. . . ;)

Btw, a note for those interested in such aspect: I ran the installer for
this, and, well, Yikes. ;) Inflicts an ugly eczema outbreak all over HKCR.

I dont get it...why have to download new software to control startup
items, whe all ya have to do is click the start button, then run,and type in
msconfig.
then click the startup tab and uncheck whatever you dont want on startup
then your all set....

Such programs are necessary because msconfig does not show all
thing that will run at startup.
Hint: research autostart and autorun methods.
