remove sp2 installation file after sp 2 installed

I notice there is a directory all ServicePackFiles under
windows directory after I update to sp2. It contain all
the sp2 files (I guess) and take up about 500+M.

I am running out of space after sp2 install (take out
1.5G+ space). Can I safely remove this directory? will
there any impact?

Thanks,

I remove the other directory under
Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download
which also take up 500+M, and compress the
servicepackfiles directory. At least now I have some swap
space.

Yes, the Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download folder can be removed.
You've gained some space. You can also try Disk Cleanup to clear some more
space.

Hi

You might want to clean out your System Restore (SR) points as well
(and maybe reduce the limit on how much disk space SR is allowed to
use (I usually set it between 512 MB to 1 GB.

More about it here:

For folders you can consider deleting and other disk cleanup tips
after a successful SP2 installation, take a look here:
