I am copying, mostly copy / paste, I keep getting the sections and thier
numbers from the original doc. I want all my docs to be contiuous. How do I
get rid of the sections in the headers / footers?
Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you

Headers and footers don't have sections on their own; they merely reflect
section breaks in the document itself. You can remove section breaks from
the document by searching for ^b and replacing with nothing. Or you can set
the page numbering to be continuous by using Ctrl+A to select the entire
document and then going to Insert | Page Numbers: Format, selecting
"Continue from previous section," and OK and then Close (not OK).
