how shall I remove these f*cking reminders that my HD has little free space
which keep poppiong up every 5 minutes?
I have a number of logical partitions and it is none of XP's business fow
much free space I have there

I suggest Windows XP Powertoys - TweakUI specifically. "Taskbar and Start
Menu" section and remove the tick from the box that says "Warn when low on
disk space" and/or perhaps not running at all times as an administrator?

By removing some of the excess files so that XP has enough disk space to run
properly.
