Trying to remove a couple of programs from the StartUp menu on Windows XP.

Not sure how to do this.

Want to remove Yahoo Messenger and an Adaptec CD Create Tool.

Would appreciate any help.

Thanks.

Download and run this program from Microsoft.

AutoRuns for Windows v8.61
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/sysinternals/ProcessesAndThreads/Autoruns.mspx

In AutoRuns, click on the Logon tab.
You can either uncheck or right click and delete the entries
you want to prevent being launched at startup.

Good luck

This works for me in Classic view, should in xp view...

Right-click Start button, then click on "Open All Users". In window that
gets, open Programs folder. Open subfolders if any. Programs listed should
be designated as shortcuts (with curved arrow in l-l) Safe to delete
shortcuts; just save in Recycle Bin until happy. Can always restore from
there. I "customized" my Start button programs entries this way, adding
folders, moving or adding shortcuts to programs in groups.
