Remove or Reset Hit Counter - Not working

If anyone has further information I would greatly
appreciate it ---- please see my post below - Tom was
kindly helping me but possibly had to give up on me or
leave for the day lol.

I cannot delete the hit counter. I have deleted it on
the view page, saved and then published - it is still on
the website. Also I have gone into reset - put in 0,
saved and published ... still on website. I have also
deleted cookies as well as refreshed page and still
there. Please can anyone help me. I prefer to just be
able to reset the hit counter but it is not working
