Does anyone know how to remove older system restore
points from xp?
From the "System Restore" Tab under Control panel>System, either turn off
system restore and reboot to remove all the points or reduce the space
allocated. XP will remove the oldest first. Be careful what you wish for, you
may need those restore points someday! Unless you're hurting for HD Space,
leaving it alone is the best course.

there two choices.

You can turn it off from Control Panel > System > System
Restore tab and then re-boot and it will purge it's file.
Then re-boot, turn it back on.

Programs> Accessories> System Tools> Disk Cleanup> more
Options Tab> System Restore It will remove all but the
last point.

I like the first to get rid of all the old and start over
with a fresh one. after you re-boot manually set one.

or run disk cleanup
goto more options tab
and delete restore points there
a little bit eeasier and you get to keep ya
most recent point

Thanks all. I was very helpful info. The disk cleanup
method seems to be the most efficient method.

You can reduce to the most recent one, using
Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup
and one of the 'More Options'

You cannot delete selectively before that.
Also the oldest points will be dropped automatically as the space
allotted fills up. On a big drive that space can be excessive (and I
think give trouble). In System - System restore. select drives and
click Settings. I'd suggest no more than 1GB on any drive -a nd
actually use 500 MB, and monitor C: only - there is no point having it
monitor data drives. That is enough for around 10 points
