I have an icon showing a network connection that is not working. It is an
irrelevant connection. Anyhow, if I right click and go into network
connections and then properties of that connection, the "show icon in
notification are" is not checked so I am not sure why this is showing up
here or how to get rid of it. Can anyone help here please? Thanks much.

There is no option to that affect and by reading that, it would seem though
it would not show the taskbar at all. That is not what I am looking for.
Please clarify if I am wrong or if someone could please give me more
guidance. Thanks much.

Is there not also an option "Notify me when this connection has limited or
no connectivity"?
If so, untick box.

There is that option and it was not checked. That is why I am not sure why
it is showing up anyhow. Anyone have any other ideas? I even tried checking
that box hitting "OK", then opening it again and unchecking that box, but
still no results. It is for my gigabit ethernet on my machine. I am just not
sure if the gigabit ethernet is tied with the regular ethernet, if you know
what I mean? Anyhow, I would appreciate some more help if you would here?
Thanks much.

Disable that connection in the Device Manager and you won't see the
"Disconnected" notification. You will see it as Disabled when you open
Network Connections, or Device Manager..
