What os? could go to msconfig and start up files and
unclick programs that are in task bar, plus running in
the background. program still there but willn't auto start
on you, msmgs that a good one it keeps coming back was
told theres a string in the Reg that you can put in to
stop that 1 hope that helps
OS is XP Professional - I have unchecked everblock in the
msconfig startup file but the "safely turnoff hardware"
icon still won't go away. Is there somewhere else to look?
That is there if you have connected a USB device. You can unplug the
hardware without damage, but doing so in the middle of data transfer
could be a disaster. So this is to allow you to say you want to remove,
and then it come back when all transfers are safely finished.
You can't get rid of it, but can hide it. R-click in the taskbar, make
sure 'Lock' is not checked, then take Properties. Check 'Hide inactive
icons', then click Customise. Next to the Safely remove line, click the
'Hide when inactive' and select 'Always Hide'. May take a little while
to come into effect
