Dont believe all that you are told.
Have you run Disk Cleanup?
Using Internet Options, reduced the size of the temp folder size?
However if space is that low perhaps consider a larger HD or adding a second

Bad idea. There are many duplicate files held in hte XP structures that
are supposed to be there.
Any other suggestion to free up space!!

The best place to start is to remove temporary files and limit the size of
Internet Explorer's cache.

Download ccleaner (www.ccleaner.com) and let it delete what it finds. It
often finds several hundred megabytes of removable files the first time,
and so will take some time to run. Click on Analyze first, to get the list
of what it finds. Then click on Run Cleaner to delete them.

Once that's done, open Internet Explorer and go to Tools, Internet Options,
and under Temporary Internet Files choose Settings. Here, change the cache
size - it can default to over a gigabyte. I set it to maybe 25 meg.

In addition to freeing up space, you will probably find that these simple
steps also improve system performance.

You've been told wrong. Do not do this. Although there may be *some*
duplicate files that can safely be removed, it is *not* generally true that
it is safe to do this.

It is recommended to uncover duplicate personal data only like
documents, photos, mp3 etc. You can use NoClone to uncover duplicate
files. NoClone by default protect windows and program files folders. -
