Remove Category from several Contacts

I have some "temporary" categories that I'd like to delete. Deleting the
category doesn't remove it from the contacts. I'd like to be able to open
Contacts in "by Category" view, delete the temporary category from all the
Contacts in it, then delete the category. There must be a way to do this
without opening each contact and deleting the category one by one.

Select all the contacts you want to change, right-click, choose Categories
from the context menu, and clear the check box for that category.
