Remove box around text box.

When I create a new text box on a Word document, there is a larger box around
it. How do I get rid of that without deleting the text box and my wording
inside.

Select the text box by clicking inside it. You should see a cross-hatched
selection border around the text box now. When you point to that border, your
cursor should change from an I-beam to a four-headed arrow.

Still pointing too the text box selection frame (with the four-headed arrow)
right-click, then click Format Text Box.

Use the Format Text Box dialog box to set the fill and line (No Fill and No
Line removes them).

I can do that. I can't get rid of the larger box around it. I am not sure
if that is what you are referring to as the cross-hatched selection border.
This box is larger and around the text box.

On the General tab of Tools | Options, clear the check box for the item
referring to the drawing canvas.

Linds:

After I remove the fill and outline from a text box, there are only two
"outlines" that I can see in Word.

One is the text boundry. This appears when I have Tools > Options > View >
Text Boundaries checked. This box just shows where the text can go within the
text box. The lines don't actually print. You can turn them off by clearing
that check box.

The other outline is the text box itself, the outline is thick and composed
of diagonal hatching. This doesn't print either. It just indicates that
you've got the text box selected.

If you're referring to the way text wraps around the text box, you can
explore different options on the layout tab of the Format Text Box dialog
box. But this isn't reallly a "box" it's just the white-space around the text
box.

Are you seeing and printing some other kind of outline around your text box?

It starts at least in 2003, maybe even 2002?
