Remove and re-install Vista

After installing some updates my laptop decided to go on strike. I'm not too
sure what was updated but it caused my computer to lose my desktop and
replaced it with a black screen, then the computer would freeze. I tried a
system restore but my computer could never find a suitable place to revert
back to.

I have backed up the files I wanted to copy and now I would like to format
my laptop and re-install vista.

Help is much appreciated ....

Thanks!

Look in your laptop's documentation which should tell you how to restore
your laptop to the way it was when you bought it. Usually, it's an F key
that you press when first booting up.

I do have the recovery disc and just figured out what I need to do.

Only problem is I can't find my dvd/cd drive !? No doubt another result from
my update installation.

Sorry guys got any ideas how to get my laptop to pick up the dvd drive? So
far I've taken it out and re-inserted it. That pretty much covers my
technical ability : )

Cheers.

Thanks for your help guys but I've decided to send the laptop back. It's only
2 weeks old and given me nothing but grief! I have a feeling that no matter
what i do with it I'll always be problem solving.

Cheers
