remove a category from Details view in windows explorer

I am using windows xp sp2. In windows explorer details view I just want to
see the name, size and date of a file - not the type of file it is. Can I
remove this category completely for all foldersin windows explorer?

Open explorer and right click on the bar with the categories. A list will
open. Check or uncheck what ever you want to see.

R-click the column headers, UNcheck the UNdesired columns, then click
Tools, Folder Options, View, Apply to All folders.
