I ran the chkdsk command (with the /f flag) and at one point it asked me if I
wanted to temporarily dismount the drive. I selected "Y" since it usually
doesn't cause problems and undos what it did afterward.

After rebooting to try and finish this process, my disk drive was missing
from My Computer (Label E:, physically sperate disk from my C:). Running
Computer Management>Disk Management, I see the hard disk, but it's listed as
unallocated, free space. http://jayed.cidhighwind.net/Compmanag.jpg

How d I remount (?) and label this drive as E: again without losing data?

Usually in diskmgmt one L.clicks the hd,go to actions, all, select:make drive
active, then close out msc.If that doesnt work, one could power off computer,
move the hd to another IDE connection (set the jumper pins) then see where
xp puts it.You could also,go to run, type:cmd In cmd type:DiskPart In
DiskPart
type:HELP A list of services are shown.
