Remotely change environment variables

Is there any way to remotely change someone's environment variables?

I would like to change several users system variables from my PC, so that I don't need to log them out and log on locally as an administrator.

I would like to do it without a login script if possible, as I do not use login scripts at all right now.

Workstations are XP. Servers are W2K with AD running native.
