Remote Wonder 2

Any clues when ATI will start selling Remote Wonder 2, or packaging it with
AIW cards?
I've seen reviews of RW2 written long time ago, but no product has appeared
on shelves.

I've read that the rw2 upgrades are now being done for those that bought the
ati 9600aiw cards.

I've read that there were coupons inside the AIW cards that entitled them to
obtain an upgrade for Remote Wonder 2 when available. But I haven't see
anything which said that somebody is in the process of actually getting one.
It's like with HL2 coupons, the delivery could take place in far far future.

I've tried ATI's product availability support page. But I got one of those
automated emails which tells you shit. "It'll be released when it's
released". I just wanted to know if it would take a month or a year

Since they don't want people to stop buying now and wait for the new product
to ship, it's unlikely that they'll tell you anything.

I have one of those coupons and I've sent it in now that I've seen people
posting that they're getting theirs and after seeing that they like the
rw2's better. It costs the price of tax and shipping to get the rw2. Do a
bit more research, start at the obvious places.

I sent mine in on 2/2/04 and have not received so much as an
acknowledgement, nor has my credit card been hit for the S/H. In their
defense they did say it could take 8 weeks to process, but I should call
them on Monday and make sure they at least received it.

Don't even bother. The woman whom I spoke to assured me that my order "was
in the process of being processed". So help me God, that's what she said.
She further informed me that there was no one above her to talk to about it
because "it wll just come back to me".

When I asked her if the orders were just in a pile somewhere, she got upset
that I would suggest such a thing. After some more diplomatic inquiries, she
admitted that the orders "were in a stack". Which is totally differecnt from
a pile, becuse it's ordered :)

I'm till waiting for an answer to a problem report I sent in 3 weeks ago.
Yes, I did follow up woth a phone call at 2 weeks (at a $20 per incident
rate) and was promised a followup from the technical staff. No email, no
call, NADA.

ATI HAS THE WORST SUPPORT for a company that pretends to have it. Some
companies are truthful and don't bother with support, but ATI takes it to a
new low.

For those interested, it arrived yesterday. Sans installation CD, although I
get the impression that we're using the same drivers as before, since
there's nothing to download on the site, either. Ah well. At least it'll
make installation a plug 'n' play operation, I think.

Can someone in fact confirm that I should not have received installation
software with this?

Chris:

On the ATI website, choose "Drivers & Software", your OS/Remote
Control/Remote Wonder II, and you will be informed:
No updates available at this time. Please use the same driver which appears
on the ATI ALL-IN-WONDER 9600 PRO installation CD.
HTH.

Right, I understand this, but can someone tell me if there was specific
Remote Wonder 2 software on there, as opposed to Remote Wonder software? I
have the Remote Wonder 2.4 stuff installed right now and there doesn't seem
to be a point to taking it off if I don't have to. (Yes, I have the disk and
can check, but if someone knows, it's easier for me at the moment than
digging it out.)

I'm a little disappointed in the BIG HONKIN' RECEIVER...I realize that's
prolly part of why the range has increased, but the little one fit on my
desk so nicely... :)

I didn't get a driver CD. And since the original Remote Wonder
software and drivers work with the Remote Wonder 2, I don't see a need
to get new ones.
