This keeps coming up while on the internet. It says the
NT Authority/system will shut down windows and it counts
down. We have tried to download windows updates but,get
shutdown before download is done. What is causing the
shutdown and can we stop it from shutting down so we can
get our updates.

You have been infected with the much publicized Blaster Worm.

The first thing you need to do is stop the system from shutting down.
Perform the following after a reboot.

Click Start
Click Run
Type in: services.msc
Press ENTER
The box that comes up has an alphabetical list of services.
Use the scroll bar on the right and go down to "Remote Procedure Call (RPC)"
Right click on it.
Click Properties.
Click Recovery tab
Click drop down by "First Failure"
Select "Restart the service"
Click OK.

After you do this, go to the following website and complete the removal
instructions and install the patch that wll protect against this worm.

You may have the blaster virus. It affects RPC and the
infected machine cannot download updates. Have you
antivirus installed? Is it functioning? If necessary go to
http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ and use the free online
scan. Cheers
