Remote Procedure Call + Windows update

I found out that my computer got the well-known worm, and
it turns off all the time. I couldn't update my windows
because I keep getting an error message from their page.
I decided to wipe out the computer, FORMAT and reinstall
XP again. As for my surprise I still run into the same
problems, RPC still shows up and windows update page does
not complete load, gives me an error. Why after
formating and instaling XP again I still get this worm ?
Is it in my instalation CD , my hard drive is bad, waht
is it ?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Sonia,

If you connected your newly installed unprotected and unpatched Winodws XP
directly to Internet it is possible that you got same worm in less then a
minute. You can get some level of protection by turning on personal firewall
that comes with Windows XP.

What error do you get when you try to access Windows Update?

WHen I click to check for updates, it doesn't even check,
stops saying that there is an error. it giver me a
message that I should check my date/time/clock and it may
be the problem however, time/date/clock are correct.

Did you connect an unprotected computer (no firewall) to the internet?
A few seconds, far less time than it takes to update, is all it takes
to get infected.
