Remote Procedure Call Termination

Hi. I have recently installed XP Pro on my laptop.

I am starting to regularly get an error stating: "Your PC
will shutdown now because the Remote Procedure Call
terminated unexpectedly". I get a 59 second countdown
timer before the laptop shuts down and restarts.

Also I have found that I cannot send emails - the error
returned states something like unable to connect to
server, however I am able to receive emails.

Are either of these problems related?

Can someone please let me know how to resolve either of
the problems?
