Remote Procedure Call Error.

Hi,

Lately I have had this unusual error coming up every now
and then while I am logged on to my computer. A message
box appears saying that the 'Remote Procedure Call'
terminated abruptly and then the timer counts down to
shutdown. I would be really glad if anyone could get back
to me on this and let me know how to fix this!!!

I went to the....

I was able to install and proceed with the VB Script and
remove the worm but I cannot get the patch to work. It
gave me this message: KB823980 Setup Error: Setup could
not verify the integrity of the file Update.inf. Make
sure the Cryptographic service is running on this
computer.

Can anyone help?

Hi Govind,

It looks like you have the same problem I had. If you go
the Microsoft website and click on the details regarding
the W32 WORM BLASTER VIRUS. You will need to clean your
system first and then download the patch. If the dialogue
box appears again go to your pc clock and change the year
to 2002. This will allow you, in theory, to fix the
problem with a year and whatever seconds appear in the
box. Then go Microsoft and follow the instructions. Hope
it works out okay

Go to Start/Run and type in CMD. At the command prompt, type the following
commands, pressing ENTER after each line:

net stop cryptsvc
ren %systemroot%\system32\catroot2 oldcatroot2
net start cryptsvc
