remote disconnects

I have 2 xp pro media center pcs. I have connected from home to my office for
years with no problem. The office pc is a static ip. Recently, I have been
getting disconnects, even between key strokes. This does not appear to
disconnect completely as I do not have to log in again. I just keep clicking
my mouse until it re-connects. It is very fustrating and I have not been able
to find anyone that even suggests what the problem may be. I hope someone has
a solution they can forward to me. Please reply in simple directions as I am
not very computer literate.

Have your ISP check your home connection. Seems you are dropping enough
packets to lose the connection, but likely one of the 20 retries reconnects
you.
