remote dialup connection disabled

I have Windows XP home edition on my system, I am trying
to upgrade to XP professional, when i perform the upgrade
the remote dialup connection gets disabled, and i cannot
establish a dialup connection via my modem, the upgrade
also removes the system restore history, so i have
problem restoring my system to its original
configuration. I have tried enabling the Remote dial up
connection manager from the "services", but on starting
the services for Remote Dialup connection, it gives an
error saying Access denied. ANy help and suggestions will
be grately appreciated
