I have 2 questions
1: if a computer has a virus and i use remote desktop to remote it can my
computer get its virus?
2: I was going to use my computer at work to remote desktop one of my family
members computer at their home to check out their computer problem and it did
not work. Her firewall was off i dont know why it did not connect to her
computer, is it possible that the work network has it blocked from remoting
people outside their network?

Yes... If you have drive mapping enabled and possibly clipboard sharing
enabled.

Very possible. RDP uses port 3389.

Could also be a virus or broken firewall software on the remote PC. With a
hardware firewall you can do port forwarding for port 3389. If the hardware
firewall has port translation, you could set a different port number for the
outside world to see, and have it forwarded to 3389 on the remote PC.

1. It's possible.
2. Some companies may block remote access ports because for the question 1.
