I am not sure if I am in the correct group but after
searching through a number of selections I gave up and
decided to just ask. I just couldn't figure out where to
ask my question... My wife somehow got rid of remote
desktop. I have tried search and nothing... I have tried
to download but I keep getting a message that remote
desktop is already part of my windows xp program and it
can not download. I get the same message when I try to
use my original windows xp disc. I could use some help...
Thanks for any help... (e-mail address removed)

Hi, Mohyde ...

'microsoft.public.windowsxp.work_remotely' is where the 'remote gurus'
hang out ...but to address your problem, I'm not sure what you mean by
'got rid of remote desktop'. It's not a program that can normally be
removed. Is it possible she just deleted the shortcut?

If so, and assuming you're the host computer and running WinXP Pro, from
Start, Run, type "%SystemRoot%\System32\mstsc.exe" (without the quotes)
and see if that brings up the Remote Desktop Connection menu ... if so,
just create a new shortcut with the preceding info and you're good to
go.

If, however, you're the Client computer and/or running other than XP
Pro, (or the above doesn't work), post back ..
