Remote Desktop

I am trying to get coneccted to my work desktop. When I try from home, I can
get connected to the other computers on the network but not to my specific
computer. I get an error message that says says:
"The client could not connect to the remote coputer. Remote Connections
might not be enabled or the compter might be too busy to accept new
connections. It is also possible that network problems are preventing your
connection. Please try connecting again later. If the problem continues to
occur, contact your administrator."

I do not know what to do from here. Any ideas?

Can you access your office PC, using Remote Desktop (RDP), from another PC
on the office LAN to make sure RDP is setup correctly?

Yes, I can access it from another computer within the network.

Do you manage/control your office router?

In addition to Peter's question, how do you connect to your office LAN & the PC's with
Remote Desktop from home? Is it through a VPN or by simple port forwarding through the
router? If its the latter then you need to check port forwarding in the router as alluded
to by Peter.

I have a hub that acts as the switch for my network. I run Microsoft small
business server 2003. I can currently connect to all ither computers in the
network via Remote Desktop EXCEPT the one giving me problems. The hub is
effectively a dumb hub so it is not interfering. I have a static IP.

Well, I am not at all familiar with SBS. I suggest you post this to the
microsoft.public.windows.server.sbs news group for possible help. It seems
to me it must be a SBS issue of some sort.

Sorry I can't help more...

Just to clarify. Did you say that you can "connect to all computers in the
network via Remote Desktop"? To the OFFICE network from a HOME computer?
How? Do you use VPN or custom ports for RDC?
How is OFFICE network connected to internet. How is the hub or switch
connected to internet?

The internet enters my hub (switch) and then goes to the server. My other
computers connect to the hub.
WHen I said I connected to the other compters, I mean I can connect remotely
from a non-network computer (at home) and I can connect over the network,
from one network computer to another, by requesting my computer (the one
giving me trouble) with its network name.
What I cannot do is connect using a any computer (within or outside the
network) using the numbered internet address of my computer.
I do not know about VPN vs. custom ports.

What is the hub (switch) model number?
What is server's IP?
My other computers connect to the hub.

Non-network computer? You can use RDC to connect to your office PC? How?
Please describe steps.

The one you are trying to connect to.

I don't have a problem connecting using RDC, but OP does.
