Can remote desktop be used in a homogeneous scenario with
only windows 2000? I'm looking to use this as an
alternative to SMS for remote control.
Thanks for any help.

Nope... Remote Desktop requires either Window 2003 Server, Windows
2000 Server, or Windows XP...

You can also consider VNC (ultravnc.sourceforge.net or
www.tightvnc.com) as Remote Desktop replacements.
