I want to help a friend via remote desktop. I am suspecting they have a virus
on their computer. Is my computer vulnerable to any viruses that may exist on
their computer? Can a virus transfer via a Remote Desktop connection? What,
if anything should I be aware of?
I do have anti virus protection on my system but as they say it is better to
be safe than sorry. I have some important info on my system that I do not
want to jeprodize.
Any assistance or input would be greatly appreciated.

Greetings Trevor,

Remote Desktop merely redirects the video output, keyboard/mouse inputs (and audio if you
chose the option). However, if you want to be 100% safe in the Remote Desktop Connection
window, click the Options button, then Local Resources and uncheck "Disk drives" (otherwise
it will mount your drives on their PC after logging in).

Note that if you're referring to Remote Assistance instead (same thing just wrapped
differently), it does not redirect any of your local resources so you don't need to worry
about the above.
