Remote Desktop or Remote Assistance?

I want to connect to my sons machine to help him sort out a couple of
problems. One of them is he has difficulty sending emails. Therefore I
cannot use Remote Assistance because he can't send me the invitation email.
Can I use Remote Desktop and just log into his machine? He is running XP
Home and I have XP pro. If so how do I do that? He lives some 180 miles away
but has Broadband.
Thanks
Tony

You would need to use an alternative like UltraVNC to remotely control a XP
Home box.

Thanks Al had a look at that and installed it but found it way over my head.
Looked at the Forum as well for help but I just can't understand what it's
all about, not that techie! I'll just have to try and talk him through it
over the telephone :-(
Thanks
Tony
